When it comes to sound, they simply felt like a downgrade. I realize they have excellent reviews.but I didn't like them compared to what I already have. They also cut out several times.very annoying. Not to mention.there was a slight buzz emanating from the speakers when in bluetooth mode. I started getting distortion quite early in the mid-range(about 1/2 way is where they started to sound muddled) and to me, more importantly the sound of the speakers without a sub didn't have enough oomph to fill the room with sound. Why did I return the Edifier's? I'm no audiophile, but here is my simple take. The ProMedia Heritage 2.1 speaker system is a desktop system consisting of two speakers and a powered subwoofer designed to appear like Klipsch’s higher-end Heritage speakers specifically the Heresy IV, which you know I love. Even after all these years, they're the best bang for the buck set of 2.1's on the market. I gave them a test run and quickly returned them.Ī long story short.I ended up picking up a new sub and keeping the old speakers. In my search.I too noticed the Edifier's, so I picked up a pair off Amazon. When my old set of Klipsch Promedia 2.1's blew the sub, I thought it might be time to finally upgrade to something newer. (not your issue)Ĥ can be fixed, but gets rather involved unless you buy a working amp module off ebay for a quick swap.If the Klipsch Promedia 2.1's are available where you are, perhaps they're worth a look? Problem 3 is easily solved with an ebay kit to fix this problem, but requires some minor technical skills and soldering gear. Note: the speakers are the point of failure more often than not, but the only way to know is to test it. If the speaker reads at ~8 ohmsand flexing it makes this vary, but it goes back to near the original number, then you have a problem in the amplifier itself. if you can flex the speaker cone you may get a minor reaction, this happens sometimes, but if it still reads well above 8 ohms or doesn't react at all (0 ohms at all times/ whatever if says when you have the meter hooked to nothing) then the coil is blown and the speaker is dead. They are the 3.5mm connector to bare speaker wire that go Press J to jump to the feed. it should read 8 ohms (give or take a couple) if it does nothing, it's blown. put each lead to either terminal on the speaker with it not connected to the amplifier. Problems 1 and 2 are easily fixed by replacing the woofer (6.5", easily found replacements on ebay for roughly $30, unscrew, swap the terminals from one speaker to the other, screw new one down in place of the old) diagnosis is fairly easy, but requires access to a multimeter, even if it's just a cheap one from harbor freight using that, you'd put it in 200 ohms mode (the one directly above the power switch) and then turn it on. Rubber surround on woofer (distorted sound)Ĭabling connecting to the controls (cut outs or no audio what so ever) Known failure points in promedia systems
